In the Elon Musk Trump fallout, Russia Mocks Trump-Musk Feud: From Peace Offers to Asylum and Starlink Shares. As the rift between U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk widens, Russia is grabbing popcorn and the spotlight. Russian officials and state media have turned the high-profile spat into an international spectacle, offering tongue-in-cheek mediation, political asylum, and even recruitment into their space program.
This highly public and increasingly personal Trump-Musk feud spanning criticisms over tax bills, accusations linked to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, and threats to federal contracts has spilled far beyond American borders. The Kremlin and its allies are revelling in what they see as a PR gift wrapped in political dysfunction.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy chair of the Russian Security Council, took to X (formerly Twitter) to make a mocking peace offer.
“We are ready to facilitate the conclusion of a peace deal between D and E for a reasonable fee and to accept Starlink shares as payment,” he wrote. “Don’t fight, guys!”
The jab earned a laughing emoji from Musk himself, whose Starlink satellite service is integral to many global internet and defense operations. Medvedev’s sarcastic diplomacy resonated across Russian media, fueling further ridicule of what they dubbed “modern U.S. political culture.”
Musk Faces Political Heat After DOGE Departure
The fallout began when Musk, once a staunch Trump ally and former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), blasted Trump’s flagship tax and spending bill. Calling it a “disgusting abomination,” Musk accused the administration of undermining innovation.
Soon after leaving the White House, Musk escalated tensions by accusing Trump of connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump retaliated by signaling that Musk’s lucrative federal contracts, including those with NASA and the Pentagon, could be up for review.
“We’ll take a look at everything,” Trump said. “It’s a lot of money.”
Russia Offers Asylum and Freedom of Creativity
The feud didn’t just attract attention it invited job offers and even refuge.
Dmitry Rogozin, former head of Roscosmos, Russia’s space agency, tweeted to Musk: “If you encounter insurmountable problems in the US, come to us. Here you will find reliable comrades and complete freedom of technical creativity.”
Echoing him, Dmitry Novikov, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, told state agency TASS that Russia “could provide asylum” if needed drawing comparisons to the 2013 Snowden case.
“Although I think Musk won’t need political asylum, if he did, Russia, of course, could provide it,” Novikov added.
Russian Media and Officials Mock U.S. Political Circus
From media chiefs to government figures, the tone in Moscow has been largely mocking. Margarita Simonyan, head of Russia Today (RT), described the feud as a sign of America’s political “reverse evolution.”
Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, quoted Rodney King’s iconic phrase, “Why can’t we all just get along?” before pointing out Musk’s financial losses: Tesla stock had dropped 14%, wiping out $30 billion from Musk’s net worth.
Dmitriev then posed the situation to Grok, the Musk-owned AI chatbot, asking what might help the two men reconcile. The AI advised “private talks and public apologies,” but admitted a truce seemed unlikely.
Kremlin Cautiously Dismisses But Watches
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov kept things diplomatic. “This is a domestic issue of the United States,” he told reporters, but added, “Presidents handle a huge number of different things at the same time, some more and some less important.”
Still, Peskov’s comment did little to mask the amusement shared by other Russian elites. Nationalist oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev went further, suggesting that the feud provided a strategic distraction for the United States and that it might be “the best time to strike back” against Ukraine.
Musk’s Star Rises and Falls
Musk’s political journey with Trump has been a rollercoaster. From the campaign trail to the White House, Trump praised Musk as a “star” and “visionary.” Musk was the top donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign and became a regular at high-profile events.
Yet just months into the new administration, Musk’s critiques began. The rift widened quickly after his departure from DOGE and culminated in Trump accusing him of having “Trump derangement syndrome.”
Musk fired back: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election. Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate.”
The explosive nature of these barbs made the rift not just political, but deeply personal further amplified by Russia’s gleeful commentary.
Conclusion: A Battle Beyond Borders
The Trump-Musk feud is more than a clash of egos it’s a geopolitical sideshow. While the American public and political class debate the implications of their fallout, Russia is capitalizing on the drama. Whether jokingly offering asylum, mocking U.S. governance, or suggesting Musk join the Bars-Sarmat fighters, Russian officials are clearly enjoying the show.
For now, this feud continues to ripple through Washington and the world with Moscow watching (and laughing) from the sidelines.
