Amid soaring tensions between the United States and Iran, Iran Official Warns Trump Could Be Assassinated by Drone at Mar-a-Lago. A senior Iranian official has issued a chilling warning that former President Donald Trump could be assassinated by a drone strike while sunbathing at his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.
The threat, delivered by Javad Larijani, a high-level advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was made in a televised interview and is being viewed as the most direct Trump Iran assassination plot since the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in 2020.

Iran Official Warns Trump Could Be Assassinated by Drone at Mar-a-Lago
Iranian Official Issues Provocative Threat Against Trump
In comments aired on Iranian state television, Javad Larijani said:
“Trump has done something that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago. As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple.”
The statement has drawn global attention and sharp criticism, as it comes amid an escalating Iran Trump conflict that has already seen assassination plots, religious edicts, and cyber threats.
Trump Responds: “I Don’t Sunbathe”
Reacting to the threat in an interview with Fox News, Trump dismissed the suggestion with a chuckle:
“It’s been a long time. Maybe I was around seven. I’m not too big into it. Yeah, I guess it’s a threat. I’m not sure it’s a threat, actually but perhaps it is.”
Trump’s casual tone did little to calm growing concerns over his personal security at Mar-a-Lago, where Secret Service protection has already been stepped up due to multiple assassination attempts in 2024.
Blood Pact: $27M Bounty on Trump’s Head
Larijani’s remarks were timed with the rise of a crowdfunding platform called Blood Pact (Ahde Khoun in Farsi), which openly seeks to fund retribution against individuals seen as enemies of Iran’s leadership.
The site claims to have raised over $27 million as of July 8, and its homepage includes this disturbing message:
“We pledge to award the bounty to anyone who can bring the enemies of God and those who threaten the life of Ali Khamenei to justice.”
This campaign adds a new layer of concern to the Trump Iran assassination plot, especially since the Fars News Agency, closely tied to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has promoted the platform.
DOJ Uncovered IRGC Plot to Kill Trump
The U.S. Department of Justice has already confirmed that Iran’s IRGC was behind a foiled assassination plot against Trump in late 2024.
According to DOJ records, Iranian agent Farhad Shakeri received orders from the IRGC to: “Devise a plan targeting President-elect Donald Trump.”
Two co-conspirators, Eric Loadholt and James Rivera, were arrested for aiding Shakeri in tracking down dissidents and targeting high-profile Americans. The DOJ believes the trio was operating on U.S. soil.
Previous Assassination Attempts on Trump
Trump has survived two assassination attempts since July 2024:
- On July 14, 2024, Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, sustaining a minor injury to his ear. The attacker was killed by Secret Service agents.
- On September 16, 2024, Trump was targeted again while golfing in Florida. A gunman with an AK-47-style rifle was stopped by agents before he could act.
These incidents have made Trump’s security a top national priority, especially as Iran’s threats become increasingly public.
Cleric Issues Fatwa Against Trump
The stakes were further raised when Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, one of Iran’s most influential Shiite clerics, issued what many interpret as a fatwa (religious edict) calling for Trump’s death.
“Any regime or individual threatening the leaders of the Islamic Ummah and acting on those threats qualifies as a Muharib,” he wrote.
In Shia Islamic law, a Muharib is someone who “spreads terror and disorder” and is punishable by death, crucifixion, or amputation under Iran’s Islamic Penal Code.
Iranian Media Stokes Calls for Trump’s Death
Iranian media outlets like Kayhan, known for their hardline stance, have added fuel to the fire. In an editorial published in April 2025, the newspaper called for Trump’s assassination, writing:
“Any day now, in revenge for the blood of Martyr Soleimani, a few bullets are going to be fired into that empty skull of his and he’ll be drinking from the chalice of a cursed death.”
This rhetoric echoes similar threats made after Trump’s authorization of the Soleimani strike, which remains a core grievance for Iran’s leadership and public.
Trump Claims He Spared Khamenei
During a campaign rally in June, Trump made a dramatic statement suggesting he had the opportunity to assassinate Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei but chose not to:
“I saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death. I knew exactly where he was hiding.”
Trump has also boasted about U.S. airstrikes that targeted Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz in June 2025, though independent analysts say the impact was likely temporary.
Ceasefire Holding, Talks Stalled
Despite recent violence, a ceasefire between Iran and Israel has been in place since June 24, following a 12-day conflict.
However, U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, which resumed earlier this year, have stalled due to escalating rhetoric and recent strikes.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on July 6 that the U.S. attacks severely damaged Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, further delaying diplomatic efforts.
International Condemnation Expected
Western leaders have yet to formally respond to Larijani’s drone threat, but security analysts warn that such threats could be viewed as state-sponsored terrorism under international law.
“The language used by Iranian officials is beyond reckless it’s criminal,” said a former CIA counterterrorism analyst. “Publicly threatening to assassinate a former U.S. President is a red line.”
Secret Service Increases Protection Measures
In light of the Trump drone strike threat, the Secret Service has reportedly increased security measures around Mar-a-Lago.
While details remain classified, sources suggest new anti-drone defenses and extended perimeter monitoring have been activated.
A spokesperson for the agency declined to comment, citing protocol on active protective details.
Conclusion: Heightened Risk Amid Rising Rhetoric
The Trump Iran assassination plot has moved from whispers to overt threats, now amplified by a $27 million bounty, a clerical fatwa, and violent rhetoric from Iran’s highest offices. While Trump has publicly downplayed the risk, laughing off the idea of sunbathing, U.S. intelligence agencies and the Secret Service are taking no chances.
With a volatile election season, renewed Middle East conflict, and diplomatic channels frozen, the prospect of an escalating personal conflict between Trump and Iran poses significant global risks. As the Blood Pact campaign gains traction, questions about the limits of political rhetoric, the use of religious decrees, and the role of state media in inciting violence will only become more urgent.
