Fire Breaks Out at Marina Pinnacle, Residents Evacuated

The fire erupted around 9:30 PM, sending plumes of smoke into the night sky and lighting up the upper floors of the high-rise. Within minutes, Dubai Civil Defence, police, and ambulance services arrived at the scene to conduct a large-scale firefighting and rescue operation.

The blaze, which raged for nearly six hours, was fully contained by early Saturday morning.

Residents were seen rushing out of the building, covering their faces as embers rained down and flames engulfed upper floors. Videos circulated on social media captured the chaotic scenes, with frightened residents and pets being guided out of the smoke-filled structure.

Dubai Civil Defence: Heroic Evacuation Operation

According to a statement by the Dubai Media Office (DMO), specialised firefighting and rescue units were deployed and evacuated all 3,820 residents safely, ensuring no casualties.

Medical and ambulance teams provided on-site support, including mental health assistance to those traumatised by the experience.

Many residents praised the bravery and professionalism of the Dubai Civil Defence. One man, seen holding his pets, tearfully thanked a firefighter: “They are amazing. In the middle of the fire, they saved our babies.”

Alarming Eyewitness Accounts Reveal Gaps in Alarm System

Despite the official praise for the emergency operation, several residents voiced concerns over the initial response within the building.

According to Gulf News, many occupants were unaware of the fire until they saw fire trucks outside or heard neighbours banging on their doors.

“I think there was no fire alarm, or it didn’t work,” said Aron, a nearby worker. Another resident recalled the moment: “We were sleeping when it happened.

It was only when our neighbour knocked frantically that we realised something was wrong.”

Bengaluru Man Shares Chilling Video from Inside

Among the residents was Nishit Sharma, a man from Bengaluru, who posted a harrowing account on Instagram. “We were sleeping peacefully… Then suddenly everybody started evacuating. We were lucky to step out just in time.”

In his dramatic video, flames could be seen tearing through upper-floor apartments, with debris and railing falling to the street below. “What we witnessed felt like something out of a movie,” he added, lauding the Dubai emergency teams for their swift and efficient action.

Not the First Fire at Marina Pinnacle

This is not the first time the Marina Pinnacle, or Tiger Tower, has faced a blaze. In May 2015, a kitchen fire on the 47th floor spread to the floor above before being brought under control.

The tower is also located near The Torch, another residential skyscraper that caught fire in both 2015 and 2017.

Temporary Housing and Insurance Procedures Underway

Following the evacuation, the Owners Association of Marina Pinnacle issued a statement expressing “deep sorrow” and confirmed that temporary accommodation was being arranged for displaced residents.

Many have already been relocated to Samaya Hotel Deira, with more being processed. To qualify for temporary housing, property owners must present a title deed.

The association is also in contact with the building’s insurance company to initiate claims and restoration procedures.

Authorities Investigating Cause of the Blaze

An official investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, which at present remains unknown. However, experts and authorities have reiterated the importance of fire safety audits and functional alarm systems in high-rise structures across the UAE.

Public Praises Dubai’s Emergency Services

Social media has been flooded with messages of gratitude toward the Dubai Civil Defence and rescue personnel.

From safely guiding panicked residents through smoke-filled staircases to evacuating pets and the elderly, the operation has been widely hailed as a heroic example of disaster management.

The Dubai Media Office assured that cooling operations are still ongoing, and control measures remain in place to prevent flare-ups. Authorities are also working closely with the developer and insurance companies to restore services and assess damages.

Conclusion: A Close Call with No Lives Lost

While the Marina Pinnacle fire has left hundreds temporarily displaced and caused major structural damage, the fact that no lives were lost is a testament to the quick response and coordination of Dubai’s emergency services. As one resident put it: “This night left a mark on us… we’ll never look at high-rises the same way again. But we’re grateful to be alive.”
